Pau Rodríguez Ruiz

Clarinet

Director and clarinet teacher at the Escola i Centre Professional de Música La Lira Ampostina (Spain) and member of the Amman Chamber Orchestra (Jordan)

Pau Rodríguez Ruiz is a clarinettist, educator, and co-founder and artistic co-director of DeltaChamber Music Festival. He began his clarinet studies at the Escola de Música de La Lira Ampostina under the guidance of professor Octavi Ruiz.

He earned his degree in classical and contemporary performance at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona, studying with clarinettist Isaac Rodríguez, and went on to complete a master’s degree in classical performance at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he studied with clarinettist Tuulia Ylönen.

He has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish National Opera Orchestra, the Helsinki Sinfonietta, the Sibelius Academy Orchestra, and the Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu. He is a regular collaborator with the Orquestra de Cambra Illa de Menorca and the Amman Chamber Orchestra. His concert appearances have taken him to major venues around the world, performing under renowned conductors such as Francesc Prats, Josep Pons, Hannu Lintu, Susanna Mälkki, and Daniel Barenboim.

He was a founding member of trio Kaukokaipuu, with which he has performed in various countries and festivals, including the orroella de Montgrí festival. He has also taken part in chamber music festivals such as Músics amb residència in Alella, and the International Chamber Music Festival in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

He has taught clarinet at several music schools across the region. From 2017 to 2020, he served as principal clarinet instructor at the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Ramallah, Palestine.

He is currently the director and clarinet teacher at the Escola i Centre Professional de Música La Lira Ampostina, and a regular member of the Amman Chamber Orchestra in Jordan.
