Member of Cosmos Quartet and cello teacher at the Conservatori de Grau Professional de Música del Liceu (Spain)
Oriol Prat Sabater began his cello studies with Suzuki Method teacher Anna Toca at the Escola de Música de Capellades. In 2008, he completed his professional music diploma at the Conservatori d’Igualada under the guidance of Romain Boyer.
In 2012, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in cello performance at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), studying with Damián Martínez, and pursued chamber music studies with the Casals Quartet and Kennedy Moretti. He subsequently continued his training with Lluís Claret. In 2015, he completed a Master’s degree in Performance with Claudio Bohórquez at the Stuttgarter Musikhochschule.
Since 2014, he has been a founding member of Cosmos Quartet, an ensemble with an active artistic career and numerous awards to its name, including 1st Prize at the 2018 Irene Steels-Wilsing String Quartet Competition (Heidelberg) and 1st Prize at the 13th BBVA Montserrat Alavedra Chamber Music Competition in Terrassa.
He has worked with renowned cellists such as Maria de Macedo, Asier Polo, Jens Peter Maintz, Raphaël Pidoux, Gary Hoffman, and Frans Helmerson, among others.
Currently, he performs with orchestras such as the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, and the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu. Since 2016, he has held a teaching position in cello at the Conservatori de Grau Professional de Música del Liceu.
