Bernat Prat Sabater
Violin
Member of Cosmos Quartet (Spain)
Bernat Prat Sabater was born in Capellades in 1992. He began his musical studies with his parents, and started studying the violin with Sergi Bello at the Escola de Música de Capellades. He later studied at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), where he studied violin with professor Eva Graubin and chamber music with the Casals Quartet and Kennedy Moretti.
Later, he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, training in violin and chamber music with professor Rainer Schmidt. During his time in Basel, he also received tuition and guidance from Ferenc Rados, Ralf Gothóni, Gábor Takács, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Anton Kernjak and Sergio Azzolini. His musical career has been deeply influenced by Rainer Schmidt and Hatto Beyerle.
Since 2014, he has been a founding member of Cosmos Quartet, an ensemble he actively performs with around Europe, receiving instruction from maestros such as Rainer Schmidt, Hatto Beyerle, Alfred Brendel and Johannes Meissl.
Alongside Cosmos Quartet, he has won several international awards including 1st prize in the Irene Steels-Wilsing String Quartet Competition (Heidelberg), 3rd prize in the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition (Copenhagen) and the Artis Quartet Preis award (Vienna).
He plays a David Bagué violin made in Barcelona, with bows by Yannick Le Canu.
